THE BADLOVES

The liner notes of The Badloves’ multi-platinum debut album, Get On Board, started: “Some years are like that: too busy, too distracted, too fuzzed out. You miss things. Great music passes you by. Then, years later, you find it.”

The Badloves released just two studio albums before taking some time out. Their debut album “Get On Board” spent a massive 69 weeks in the charts , peaked at number 5 and went double platinum; delivering 5 hit singles in, “Lost”, “Memphis”, “I Remember”, “The Weight” (with Jimmy Barnes), “Memphis” and “Green Limousine”.

After extensive tours in Australia and Europe, The Badloves released their second album in 1995, "Holy Roadside" to critical acclaim, further ARIA nominations, and another string of hit singles in “Slave”, “Barefoot Bride”, “Living Thing” and “Caroline”, establishing them as one of this country’s premier acts. “Those years were so intense; it’s a bit of a blur. We just didn’t have any balance in our lives.”

As author Andrew Masterson wrote on the back of The Badloves debut single, Lost: “Knob-twiddling wizardry has its place in music, but its influence will never be as strong, or as enduring, as the sounds produced by the classic combination of two guitars, bass, drums and a mega-whomping Hammond organ … The Badloves both continue and extend the grand tradition of such music, pushing out a sound that would have seemed quite at home at Muscle Shoals in 1967, while remaining as fresh and original as tomorrow.”

They are already a part of Australian music history having become a household name and influencing a generation of musicians and music lovers. Inspired by the past, The Badloves are a band that’s very much focused on the future with their new single “Soulbrothertruckin’song” instantly embraced by national radio, and their follow up single “Tribal” will be released on Thu 30 July 2020. “It feels like we’re starting again,” Michael smiles. “Which is very exciting.” Once again, welcome aboard!

The Badloves 1992 debut album “Get On Board” peaked at #5 on the ARIA charts achieving double platinum status and hovered in the charts for a gravity defying 69 weeks. Throughout the 90’s they enjoyed hits with “Green Limousine”, “Lost”, “Caroline”, “Slave”, “Barefoot Bride” “Memphis” and the Top 5 hit “The Weight” with Jimmy Barnes. That is the history.

Frontman Michael Spiby is keeping The Badloves legacy alive and relevant with their recent new single ‘Soulbrothertruckinsong’ that immediately takes you back to their trademark sound from 1993 featuring Hammond organ and Spiby’s rich soulful vocals.

Their follow up single “Tribal” is scheduled for release on 30 July 2020 and will be performed for the first time live at Memo Music Hall on Mon 3 Aug.

The lineup will feature:

Michael Spiby – Vocals / Guitar James Ryan – Guitar / Lapsteel / BVs Tim Neal – Hammond Kit Riley – Bass / Double Bass / BVs Jeff Consi – Drums / BVs With special guest Susie Ahern – BVs Plus MC Jane Gazzo (Triple M)
